Lease & Management Agreement

Milwaukee County and MPM, Inc.

State of Wisconsin

  • Authorized $40 million in state funding for a new museum facility.

  • Funding was contingent on private fundraising benchmarks.

  • Secured a state ownership interest tied to the new building.

  • Did not secure a comparable ownership interest for Milwaukee County, despite county taxpayers remaining the largest contributors.

  • Committed Milwaukee County to an additional $20 million over 20 years.

  • Redefined how certain museum assets and “components” are classified and managed.

  • To public knowledge, was not approved by the full County Board of Supervisors.
